Morning Routine or Morning Mayhem?

Getting ready in the morning—smooth routine or total chaos? For me, it’s usually the latter.

I only have a few minutes to pull myself together before the day kicks off. I used to enjoy dressing up and feeling cute, but these days? Not so much. Life after pregnancy has shifted my priorities, and honestly, I just don’t have the time or energy to fuss over my look like I used to.

To save time, I try to plan my outfit the night before. That way, I’m not staring into the closet half-asleep, trying to make a big decision. Still, even with a plan, mornings can feel like a juggling act—especially when you’re a mum.

If you’re a solo mum, I salute you. Finding time to get ready while caring for a baby is no joke. I’m lucky that my husband or mother-in-law usually helps out while I get dressed. But on days when my husband leaves early and my MIL isn’t around, it’s a whole different story.

Take today, for example. I got dressed in record time—five minutes, maybe even one. Then I picked up my baby for a quick cuddle, and boom—my T-shirt was suddenly covered in mystery stains. I didn’t even notice until much later… after I’d been out and about in public. Oops.

Lesson learned: I need a backup outfit. Or maybe I should wait to change until after I drop him off? I’m still figuring it out.

Pro Tip I’ve picked up: Dress in layers. A comfy base layer (like a tank or tee) under a cardigan or hoodie means if baby leaves a surprise on you, you can peel off the top and still look presentable. Bonus points if your “mum uniform” is something you feel good in and can throw on without thinking.

Now I want to hear from you: What’s your go-to trick for surviving the morning rush with a baby in tow? Any pro tips for a newbie mum like me? Drop your stories in the comments—I’d love to hear your funniest, messiest, or most triumphant morning moments.
